Overview
The Mansounia Exploration License is centered on Latitude 10º 23’N and Longitude 9º 47’ W in the Kouroussa Prefecture, Kankan Region, in Guinea, West Africa and covers a surface area of 145 square kilometres. The project is located approximately 500 kilometres east by main highway from the capital city, Conakry, to the town of Kouroussa (alternatively 80 kilometres west by road from the country’s third largest city, Kankan, to Kouroussa), and then 50 kilometres south by minor unsealed road to the town of Kiniero, located immediately east of the concession area. Geology
The Mansounia property lies in the southwest margin of the Siguiri Basin, overlying the Archaean Liberian Crayton, Further geological and technical details will be made available upon completion of technical reports being prepared for the property.
Rocks in the project area have undergone deep weathering commonly showing 30m to 50m of saprolite developed over the bedrock. Secondary gold mineralization has been identified in the oxide profile at MGD and is reported to be similar in tenor to that which has been mined and processed via heap cyanide leach at Siguiri. Deeper drill holes have exposed relatively thin (typically <5m), steep (~75º) north-north-east trending mineralized structures in fresh and partially weathered volcanic units.
